Pippa Cleary

HI, I’m Miss Pippa and I founded Pippa’s Poppets. From a very young age, music has been central to my world. I found my spiritual home in Musical Theatre, and it is my ambition to share the joy and confidence my passion has given me with as many little people as possible.

Pippa’s Poppets early days

After graduating from Bristol University with a BA in Music, I went to work for Stagecoach, which is where I discovered a passion for inspiring little ones through song. Pippa’s Poppets was born out of a conversation with a local mum who was fed up with the same old repertoire of preschool songs. Inspired, I set about composing and within a couple of days, had a handful of fresh, catchy songs to offer. I started running classes in Pimlico structured around original music and, before I knew it, had garnered quite a following, and so it was that Pippa’s Poppets was established.

Where we are now

Since the early days of hosting classes in my mum’s living room in Pimlico, Pippa’s Poppets has flourished. We now hold classes in some of London’s most reputable nurseries, with clients including Miss Daisy’s Nurseries, Young England Kindergarten, The Kindergartens, Eaton Square Kindergartens, The Wilcox Nursery and The Cupcake Family Club. I am now supported by a team of highly skilled musical theatre performers who, with the help of our friendly little bear, Pippa Panda, run classes, workshops, and parties across London.

My life in musical theatre

Alongside Pippa’s Poppets I work as a musical theatre composer and lyricist. My most recent musical was an adaptation of Sue Townsend’s The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole aged 13¾. This was met with critical acclaim, earning 5*s in the Evening Standard, Time Out & The Independent. I’ve written many shows for children including Singapore Repertory Theatre’s Treasure Island, Red Riding Hood, Chicken Little, and Prodigy and Tess of the d’Urbervilles at The Other Palace. I also love composing TV adverts and jingles, one example of which is the popular Finish campaign ‘I Love Doing Dishes’. I won The Times Carol Competition in 2011 and The Arts Foundation Fellowship for Composition in 2012.

I’d like to thank all the mums and children who have grown up with my songs and made the job of inspiring and teaching early years so special.

Meet the Team

Miss frankie

Hi, I’m Miss Frankie and I have been with Pippa’s Poppets for just over a year and have been teaching dance and drama for over 5 years. I teach children of all ages and I love inspiring young children through music and engaging their creative minds!  I also teach for PSSA, and various stage schools and dance studios around London. I have previously worked and performed in India and also China where I produced my own musical theatre shows and learnt a little Mandarin! Some of my choreographic work has been performed in London at the Young Actors Theatre and also in the UAE at the Mall of Qatar. My favourite Pippa’s Poppet’s song is Animals in the Jungle because I enjoy playing all the different animal characters, especially the lion!

Mr Curtis

Hello there! I’m Mr Curtis. I joined Pippa’s Poppets in 2019 and I’m loving it. My background is in Musical Theatre having graduated from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in 2017. I’ve since gone on to work with children in almost everything I’ve done from Playing Mr Toad in a primary school tour of “The Wind in the Willows”, to guiding adventures through the jungle and telling tales of cheeky Chimpanzees and Giant Gorillas. And, if you’re lucky, you may find me donning the big red suit at Christmas time! Seeing children's faces light up when they’re singing and playing during class is my favourite part of the job and my favourite Pippa’s Poppets song is “Grow Sunflower Grow”.

Miss Jessica

Hi! I’m Miss Jessica and I’m proud to have worked for Pippa’s Poppets for several years. I love working for Poppets and my favourite song is ‘Pitter Patter’. After training at The London School of Musical Theatre and working in Musical Theatre and Voice Acting for a number of years, I have found working as a music, singing, and drama teacher with little ones incredibly rewarding. I teach drama and singing in various primary schools in West London, as well as being head of Singing at a large musical theatre academy for children and teenagers in Old Street.

I’m a qualified fitness instructor, and love bringing elements of movement and high energy warm ups to my classes. It’s a complete honour to watch children grow and develop through music and movement in our Poppets Classes. Looking forward to banging my drum and shaking my shaker with you soon!

Miss Kate

Hello! I’m Miss Kate and I have been teaching for Pippa’s Poppets since 2017. I trained in Musical Theatre, graduating from Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance in 2013. Along side performing, I have been teaching ever since!

As well as children’s music classes, I also teach dance, singing and drama to students all across London. I love choreographing routines for the pupils and seeking out new songs & material to share with them. I teach fitness classes to adults too, which helps me burn off some energy!

My favourite Pippa’s Poppets song is ‘Ring my Bell’ - I love shaking my shaker and singing very loudly to it!
